Best of the Looks, Best of the Books 3/26/10

2010 March 26

I’m super late in posting today–sorry about that! I’ve had a sudden deluge of freelance projects as well as my actual job, so that’s my story, and I’m sticking to it. Anyway, here are my favorite looks and books related links from this week!

Today’s featured look is Jenny from Closet365’s layered skirt/chambray dress combo:

I think my favorite part is the contrast of the aqua beads and the striped tank underneath. Also, I am envious of those with the layering acumen to pull off skirts layered underneath dresses. Jenny’s blog chronicles her endeavor to wear a brand new outfit every day this year, and so far, she’s doing great!

Best of the Looks:

Mariel at Preppy with a Twist compared items in her closet to those worn by Marilyn Monroe in the iconic Gentleman Prefer Blondes.

The Sartorialist is sponsoring a lovely contest of vintage photographs. Here’s the one I submitted, of my aunt and uncle in 1944:

I love all the different ways the Delightful Dozen styled this Modcloth dress.

Best of the Books:

Now you can learn how to master the GTL lifestyle, with help from Ronnie and J-WOWW. If these two can get a book contract, there’s hope for the rest of us, right? RIGHT???

Eat, Memory is a book of essays about food. Two of my loves–essays and food. Must read.  {via A Cup of Jo}

And…it’s the weekend! This weekend I’ve got big plans–bowling, homemade breakfast tacos, bluegrass brunch at Highland Kitchen, going to see Hot Tub Time Machine (!!), and going to see Seabear at TT’s! I’m supposed to interview the band for a write up I’m doing of the show. It’s my first official band interview. If anyone has good tips, please share!

I hope you all have amazing weekends.
