Best of the Looks, Best of the Books 4/2/10

2010 April 2

Happy Friday! The sun is out, it’s almost warm, and the weekend is just about visible from here. I am pretty darn happy about the whole situation.

My favorite look this week is from one of my favorite bloggers, Julie from Orchid Grey. Julie lives in the Boston area as well and I love her sense of style (and that hair. want it.). One of my favorite color combos happens to be navy and red, and it’s pulled off beautifully here–the aim is to NOT look like an American flag. Also, it’s tough to make out in this photo, but her necklace is squirrels!

And now for all the other great stuff I loved this week:

Best of the Looks:

These hats are so intricate and elegant. Perfect for celebrating Easter and the Spring!

Pare has gorgeous umbrellas–lovely for putting a pretty touch to rainy gray days–I know Boston’s not done with it yet! {via Design*Sponge}

My friend TJ’s take on the joys and sorrows of closet purging.

In LOVE with these beautiful printed scarves from Snoozer Loser. {via Oh Joy!}

Kelly from Blackdog Finds offers her thrifting tips for spring trends.

Best of the Books:

April is National Poetry Month!

Check out these adorable cards and stationary from Regional Assembly of Text. {via Oh Joy!}

Book City Jackets helps you keep that embarrassing book under wraps on the subway.

These linked notebooks from Start Here are so great for keeping tabs on different projects. Want some.  {via Post Grad Haircut}

Seton Hall University is giving all new students a new Apple iPad.

It looks like it’s going to be a perfectly gorgeous weekend up here. I’m very much looking forward to breaking out my sundresses and taking a mini-road trip to the beach tomorrow. Then a potluck with friends on Saturday night, and driving down to Rhode Island to spend Easter with the fam. I’ve been glued to news reports of the insane flooding down there–it’s surreal to see your hometown on the Today Show…and not really in a good way. Luckily, my family’s houses fared well, but I know others haven’t been so lucky. My thoughts are with everyone down there!  What are you guys up to for this weekend?

    I didn’t realize until this very moment that I NEED a red polka dot umbrella in my life. Must save my pennies! (for a rainy day! haha!)
