Ballerina Chic

2010 October 13
by Jill

For as long as I can remember, I’ve held a secret desire to be a ballerina. Ballet is so beautiful and graceful and ballerinas are the epitome of pretty and lithe. I have never taken a lesson and I’m about as graceful as a duckbilled platypus, but I still carry a fascination with ballet and ballerinas.

Which is part of the reason why the cherry blossom girl’s post on the Chloé Spring/Summer 2011 show caught my eye. The other part is that the designs are clean, simple, and gorgeous, but it’s Chloé, so…no surprises there.

Do you have any secret obsessions? Seen any shows this season that have inspired you?

First off, a swimming platypus is surprisingly graceful: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvB0WT2Id0U&feature=fvsr

(Look at him loop around! I love platypuses almost as much as penguins. They are funny looking, but in a cute way!)

Second: “ornitorrinco” is “platypus” in Spanish. Best Spanish word ever? Maybe.

Third, I did ballet for 10 years of my life, and I schtumpfed about like an ox. Sigh. I would totally wear one of these dresses though!! They look like they’d make you FEEL graceful, even if you are decidedly not.
