Best of the Looks, Best of the Books 10/29/10

2010 October 29

It’s Friday and we’ve got a big weekend ahead of us–Halloween! Sadly, I am forgoing the celebrations this year and going to DC for the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear instead, which I’m actually super excited about. I have no idea what to expect, but that makes it more fun. I’m also looking forward to visiting DC–I’ve only been once, on a trip in college, and I’d like to get more of a sense of the city where Joe went to school for four years!

Though I’ve been a little lax about posting this week, I’ve been scoping out plenty of links for this week!

Best of the Looks:

Design*Sponge showcases snazzy wallpaper–it makes me want to try it out in my apartment!

I would like a pair of these t-strap heels.

And another goodie from Design*Sponge–for Halloween, a look inside the style in Beetlejuice–love that movie!

The Paul & Joe Sister collection is really, really cute.

The woman behind the adorable Rockstar Diaries is preggers, but what I love about this photo is  her hair–I want my hair to do that. Thoughts?

This coat is surprisingly sophisticated for Old Navy, and now on sale!

A beautiful photo shoot at an abandoned silk mill at Sally Jane Vintage–her outfits are always so amazing and classic.

Obsessed with Jentine’s trench coat.

Best of the Books:

A cute conceit to moms on McSweeney’s: “Microsoft Word to Your Mother”

Love this globe and this painted curio to display books {via Bookshelf Porn}

The Rumpus asks “Why are book blogs so damn sexy?” (They have clearly read this one.)

The New Yorker ran a literary costume contest for pups. Amazing.

The entire collection of Paris Review interviews is now online. And FREE.

    Re: hair

Kendi is my new best friend because she posted this hair tutorial on how to get waves, and it is the first thing that has actually worked for me:

It looks pretty similar to the picture you posted–I highly recommend trying it. I’m addicted.
