Many style bloggers are currently participating in Kendi’s “30-for-30” challenge, in which the challenge is to wear only 30 items of clothing (including shoes) for 30 days, encouraging creativity and seeing new opportunities with the limited resources of the items already in your closet. Another rule of the challenge is no shopping until the 30 days is over. I think it’s a great message and a fun way to experiment with what you wear, but since my challenge is pretty much always not to shop, I face a very similar situation in my closet every morning, day in and day out. Much of what I wear has been in my closet for five years or more, and I very rarely add new items (especially with my own thrifting challenge). So, while I certainly have more than 30 items to choose from when I put together my outfits, the selection is always at least somewhat limited, so I like to “remix” items in different ways as often as possible.
On Friday, I decided to remix a dress that I consider to be on the dressier side of my closet by adding a plaid button-down, bright tights, and boots.
I was a little bit frightened there was too much going on, but I think it worked really well, especially with all the layers. I will probably wear this again!
Look! New glasses! These are the Finns that everyone loved so much. Still like them? I like them too, but I might still need nosepads to keep them from sliding off my face.
