From Beach to Blizzard
After Christmas, I went to Florida for a few days, and though it wasn’t tropical, it was certainly warmer than it was in New England! Also, there was no snow on the ground–a huge plus, in my opinion.
On our last day there, the temperatures warmed up to the 70s, so we drove down to the beach and had lunch at a fish camp, outside by the water. We then went for a walk nearby, which is where these photos were taken. Bare legs! In December!
I got this sweater with my Anthropologie gift card, back in November. I like the nautical feel of this outfit, though it wasn’t necessarily planned that way. Also, I was sick (still am) and not having the best hair day.
And then it was back to New York, and piles of snow nearly as tall as me on the sidewalks, almost a week after the blizzard! Needless to say, the bare legs quickly became a fond memory.
Because I talked about how much I wear my snowboots in the winter, I decided to show you all a typical outfit (at least for my commute to work and back–I put on some flats when I got to the office). I also wanted to show off one of my Christmas gifts from my sister–a vintage cashmere cardigan from Bloomingdale’s that she found at a consignment shop and had my grandmother mend a hole in it before giving it to me. The cashmere is so soft and warm, and I definitely needed more pink in my closet. I’m also wearing a belt I bought at the J. Crew Factory store when we went outlet shopping in Florida. It’s a little too big for me, but after some experimenting, I was able to loop it so that it stayed in place nicely all day. Also, I love the color–yellow is one of my favorite neutrals!
Did any of you have a tough time transitioning from warmer vacation weather back to winter? We’re expecting more snow tonight, so these snowboots aren’t going anywhere for a long while!
