Best of the Looks, Best of the Books 1/21/11

2011 January 21

It’s snowy and cold in New York today, so I’m planning on spending as much time indoors as possible this weekend (the low is SIX degrees on Sunday!).  Since I copped out on my Best of the Looks, Best of the Books post last week, let’s just dive right into this week’s!

Best of the Looks:

I am consistently envious of Julie at Orchid Grey’s sense of style.

A pretty clutch at Oh Joy!

I’m a fan of A’s back to school look at Academichic--the colors and textures remind me of Autumn.

Sloane Crosley breaks down her daily wears for the NY Times.

What would Daisy Buchanan wear?

Best of the Books:

Slaughterhouse 90210 pairs images from film and television and pop culture with passages from literature. It’s my new favorite blog, and sometimes I’m convinced it’s written just for me!

Baz Luhrman is making a new film adaptation of The Great Gatsby. I love me so Baz and some Gatsby, but 3-D? No. Please, no.

The 50 best short stories of all time.

The power of the book club: members of the military read the same books as their families back home.

Be like Natalie Portman and turn your book into a purse!

I hear War & Peace will be in 4-D, where you are actually sprayed with blood and filled with repressed longing during key scenes.

Thanks for the shout out! I’m a fan your outfit today too. I’m thinking I will need to recreate it soon!
