Fine Print

2011 February 23

Something that my closet is lacking in is tops. Pants, jeans, skirts–I got em all. But what do I wear them with? Plain t-shirts and a cardigan, usually, but I need some more pattern in my life.

Blouses are in this season, popping up everywhere from Anthropologie to LOFT. Though I’ve been on the hunt for pretty prints for what seems like ages now, I have yet to find one that is flattering in fit–I am really small on top, so flowy tunics and blouses tend to hang off my shoulders like shapeless bags. Because of this, I’m wary of ordering online, but there are so many more options on the interwebs! What’s a girl to do? Do any of you have tips on where to find cute, affordable tops?

While I continue on in my quest, I put together some favorites that I covet.

Topshop Yellow Spot Pussybow Blouse: $75

Anthropologie Fairy Dance Top: $49.95 (on sale)

ModCloth Tiny Pet Top: $37.99

Gap Eyelet Front Top: $59.95

J. Crew Spotted Silk Vivie Top: $79.99 (on sale)

Ugh, I have the opposite problem–all tops and very few bottoms. I love dresses, but I need more skirts in my life! In the meantime, though, I agree with Kelli about the yellow bow blouse. It’s divine.

Also agree about that yellow blouse. Since I have the same issue of fit on top, I find that anything with a wrap type fit just gapes open, so requiring safety pins or a tank underneath. I do love the bows, ruffles, anything to add volume where nature has not bestowed it works well for me. Good luck in your quest!
