Best of the Looks, Best of the Books 3/4/11
Big news–I FINALLY went to the New York Public Library on my lunch break this week and got a library card! It was much easier than I thought, so I should not have put it off so long. I used the card right away and got two books I wouldn’t get elsewhere–Fun Home by Alison Bechdel and The Forever War by Dexter Filkins. Fun Home is a graphic novel/memoir, and The Forever War is written by a journalist who covered the war in Afghanistan and Iraq. I wanted some diversity after reading so much fiction lately.
Is everyone excited for the weekend? I’m going to Boston for the weekend and a few of my college friends will also be in town, so it will be like a mini-reunion. I’m also really looking forward to being back in Boston for a couple days and seeing friends. What are YOU up to?
Best of the Looks:
Love the style on Atlantic Pacific.
An open letter to Anthropologie.
An interesting info graph of the types of clothing people in each neighborhood of Brooklyn buy.
The best of New York Fashion Week, according to Best Week Ever.
Why must Topshop torture me with the cutest things that I want??
Monique Lhuillier pre-fall collection. Just order one of everything for me and I’ll get rid of the everything else I own. (Also, not that I’m in the market for a wedding dress, but IF I WAS, that first dress would pretty much be my ideal dress. Just saying.)
Best of the Books:
The Great Gatsby video game is the only video game I have enjoyed playing since 1988. (Ok, except for maybe Beatles Rock Band.)
Do people in cities read more than people who don’t live in cities?
Miss Havisham gets a visit from her sassy gay friend.
Shady Characters is a blog about punctuation.
I kind of wish my bookshelves would do this, Mary Poppins style.
