Weekend Rewind Special: Napa, April 13-17
My Christmas gift from Joe this year was a trip to Napa, California. Yes, I am spoiled. We took off last week, stopping in San Francisco for Mexican food, and then driving up to Napa, where we stayed at the Elm House Inn, which has to be the best Best Western in the entire world: not only do they offer an impressive breakfast spread every morning, complete with homemade Belgian waffles, but the staff is exceedingly friendly and helpful, AND they serve fresh baked coconut chocolate-chip cookies EVERY DAY at 6 o’clock. They are in the running for best cookie I’ve ever had.
Basically, we spent our vacation drinking really good wine, taking in gorgeous scenery, enjoying perfect weather, and eating delicious food. Oh yeah, and also getting engaged.
Here are a few pictorial highlights from the trip:
My new Target trench coat in San Francisco–the fit isn’t the best, but it was right for the weather, and I was too lazy to send it back
The wine cave at Jarvis, one of the coolest tours I’ve taken.
The view at Kuleto Estates, where we got engaged
Delicious steak and whipped potatoes at Ad Hoc
Thinking about selling this image to Napa Valley Tourism
The best pork chop I’ve ever eaten…twice (got it last time we went also)–Bistro Don Giovanni
My perfect antique ring, from Eerie Basin, an antique shop in Red Hook, Brooklyn
I’d like to go back now. What are your favorite vacation destinations?

Ahhh! Congratulations!!! So happy for you both.
Oh, congratulations!!! It sounds like you had a perfectly lovely time in Napa.
First off, congrats (again!) on your engagement! So pleased for you both. Love all the photos, they are gorgeous.
Second, I have vacation envy. I want to cuddle with your vacation and ogle it and have it tell me magical stories. Those photos! My goodness. Looks like a gorgeous time all around.
Third, I’m *so* jealous you got to eat at Ad Hoc. Thomas Keller is one of my heroes.
Fourth, XOXO!
Congratulations! Your ring is beautiful. I wonder if the owners of Erie Basin are from Buffalo, originally. That’s the name of a marina in Buffalo, where I lived most of my life.
