Best of the Looks, Best of the Books 4/29/11

2011 April 29

I’ve been a terrible blogger this week. I have no excuse–blogger rut continues, I suppose. The weather is wonderful in New York, and we’re expecting a lovely weekend. We don’t have too much planned this weekend other than a birthday celebration tonight and an informal engagement brunch on Sunday, but I’m looking forward to relaxing in Brooklyn. What are you up to for the last weekend of April/first weekend of May?

Best of the Looks:

I love Linley’s slouchy linen pants, summer scarf, and tank–it’s such a breezy summer look.

I wonder if I could pull off this look caught by The Sartorialist.

Aren’t these Sigerson Morrison flats so sweet?

DesignSponge takes a look at Heathers, one of my favorite 80s movies.

And because it’s a big day, I loved Kate’s dress, but REALLY loved Pippa’s Maid of Honor dress.

Best of the Books:

Awesome literary letterpress illustrations of famous writers from Katherine Codega.

A new study shows that reading fiction can actually improve social skills!

A great installation outside the NYPL.

Byliner is a new site that  helps you discover and discuss new writing.

Lovely weekends to all!

The Sartorialist photo is stunning, but I have to admit that I saw a woman wearing a cardigan backwards at lunch today and it looked really, really wrong. She was super cute and fashionable, and it still just looked really, really wrong.

But I’m about as adventurous as the Gap, so…
