What a perfect outfit for Anne! I'm glad that it has puffed sleeves.

I'm a LMM nut: I think I've read all of her fiction, from the more obscure novels like Jane and Pat through her collected (and, in the case of the early ones, TERRIBLE) short stories. Right now, I'm working my way through all five volumes of her published journals. Whee!

I wasn't big on Anne when I was a kid, long preferring Emily, but the older I get, the more I appreciate her. I wonder what a modern outfit for an older Anne would look like-- or for Rilla or Valancy?

Perfect outfit for a modern day Anne Shirley. All that's missing is something to smash over the head of a guy who calls her Carrots.

THE WINCEY DRESS! I love the outfit you picked out! I love Anne of Green Gables--I actually have the 8-book set here at my apartment and just re-read the entire thing about a year and a half ago. I have the movies too. Montgomery was a very sophisticated writer, even if most of her stories are relatively "cozy" (though she DID delve into real world issues like the First World War in some of her books, as well as poverty, illness, education, and women's rights). And some of her tales are downright hilarious. The town of Avonlea seems very real to me and one of my dreams is to travel to PEI and see the place for myself. (You can visit Green Gables, as the house actually exists: literary nerd pilgrimage!)

What's funny is that I was a tomboy child and didn't appreciate these very much back when I was a kid, but as I've gotten older, I've fallen more and more in love with these stories. I've started reading some of Montgomery's other stories are they are equally as charming.

I hate to say this, because I think I'm the only girl my age who feels this way, but I HATED these books. My mom would read them to me at night, and then she'd go into my brothers room (still within my earshot) and read him C.S. Lewis or The Hobbit. I was always so angry that he got to hear the adventurous books, and I was given the token "girl" books.

I loved the Anne of Green Gables series and I own the entire set, even the ones that are really about her children. Of all the characters in literature, I'd say Anne is one of the most real. I'm so glad you featured this series.
