Valentines
While I think that Valentine’s Day is largely a racket created by candy companies and greeting cards, driving people in droves to their local CVS or corner florist for flowers and candy, I’m not going to lie–it’s nice having a valentine you truly love who also happens to know exactly the ways to spoil you.
I don’t mean to brag, and I know it may come across as obnoxious, but honestly–dude deserves a blog shout out, at the very least. When I got home from work Monday evening, I was greeted by a card taped to the front door. Inside the card was a checklist of hints for a scavenger hunt around the apartment, where I found the following (in addition to some peanut butter cups, a Starbucks gift card, new pillows for our bed, and a bottle of honey whiskey):
A lovely jewelry organizer–it’s perfect, because all of my earrings and necklaces were previously jumbled into two jewelry boxes and I could never find anything I wanted!
The perfect polka dot dress
A case for my Kindle because I mistakenly ordered a case for the wrong model
And perhaps my favorite of all, a commissioned portrait of Chief.
We ended the night with a lovely, delicious dinner at Al di La--highly recommended. I know, I’m spoiled. Mostly, I just feel incredibly lucky to have so much love in my life, with or without all these nice presents.
I hope you all had a lovely Valentine’s Day!

Aww, how sweet! That jewelry organizer is a great idea (thanks for the Etsy link). And I am dying to try Al di La! I always manage to be walking by while it’s either packed or their switching over for dinner.
*they’re* switching over
If you don’t mind my asking, where is the portrait from? I’m always tempted to get one done of my own pup, that that one is especially cute!
The puppy portrait is by Goodloe Byron: http://goodloebyron.tumblr.com/
I’m glad you like it!
