Best of the Looks, Best of the Books 5/4/12

2012 May 4

Well, friends, I’m about to embark on the last weekend of my 20s. I can’t say it feels significant in any way other than that Saturday night Joe and I will be having a joint birthday bash to celebrate, and also I will be eating a lot of good food. Although, talk to me on my actual birthday next week, and I may be singing a different tune (one about feeling old and wondering if I’m where I’m supposed to be in life, etc. etc.).  To top off the birthday excitement, we’ve got tickets to see Andrew Bird tonight, which I couldn’t be more thrilled about–not to mention reservations at Kin Shop, the new restaurant of Harold of Top Chef Season 1 fame. (He was always my favorite!).

It’s been a long and stressful week, so I’m very much looking forward to lots of fun this weekend. How about you?

Best of the Looks:

Chloe of the Chloe Conspiracy works a fantastic yellow skirt with a pretty pink sweater and a lovely mint clutch.

Speaking of birthdays, how cute is this Madewell shirt??

I’m actually sporting this hairdo today.

Curious if I could pull off this ombre manicure tutorial

This maxi skirt is seriously tempting for summer strolls.

Best of the Books:

Wigleaf’s list of top 50 (very) short fiction is out, and my dear friend Rebekah Matthews is on it…TWICE.

Famous writers’ book shelves.

In other awesome writer friend news, check out the first chapter of What Ends, Andrew Ladd’s Amazon Semi-Finalist entry in the 2012 Breakthrough Novel Award. Read it now!

Turns out there won’t be an HBO adaptation of The Corrections after all.

It’s Short Story Month! Check out Knopf’s list of short stories at #shortreads.

And that’s the Friday scoop! Have a great weekend, all.

Beautiful look *and* hairdo! I may have to try that one out today. Happy birthday soon!

I love her look and I have the same F21 skirt, but need to tailor the waist. It’s a great skirt but not so easy to walk in. I adore her huge clutch and the peach/yellow combo!
