I went to BEA last week and I thought it would be fun to show you all what I wore, because I was pretty proud of how apt my outfit was:
* Top: Gap * Skirt: J. Crew * Flats: Anthropologie
In case you couldn’t see in the previous photo, because my hair is out-of-control long, here’s a close-up of my necklace, which my sister got me as a gift for being her maid of honor in her wedding last month. It’s a tiny bound book that you can actually write in, in my wedding colors of yellow and purple. I wasn’t planning on wearing it with this outfit because I thought it might be yellow-purple overdrive, but it actually worked really well, and it wasn’t until I put it on that I realized how apropos it was for a book conference.
Have you ever (unconsciously or on purpose) accessorized specifically for an event? I felt a teeny bit self-conscious about wearing a book necklace to a book conference (along with my tote that reads “She is too fond of books and it’s addled her brain”–Louisa May Alcott), but I should have known better, because if there was ever a place tailor-made for such accessories, it’s BEA. There were pins, totes, and other book-swag all over the place, and everyone was fighting to get in on the action. These are my people, after all.
What’s your favorite book accessory?
