Fashion Book–The Dud Avocado
*Ed note: I started this post earlier this week, but as seems to be the case lately, I completely lost track of it in all of the “tying up loose ends” I’m involved in this week. I can finally say that all of those illusions to waiting and being in limbo were not only in reference to waiting for the wedding, but also because I had been waiting (and waiting) to hear about a job, and I found out last week that I got it! Hooray! So, the next week is all about finishing things up at my current job, confirming all details and taking care of last minute stuff for the wedding. It’s going to be a little hectic, but I’m managing to keep my sanity…so far.
And now, back to regularly scheduled programming.
The Dud Avocado is a delight. I don’t know how else to sum it up, other than saying, it was a delight to read, from start to finish. One of those books you actually enjoy reading, not because the writing is beautiful, or the characters are complex, or the plot is suspenseful. It’s just sheer fun.
Sally Jay Gorce jets off to Paris after her college graduation, intent on becoming a woman–the kind of woman who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to do everything in her power to get it. Of course, along the way, she does her fair share of stumbling, ending up in some particularly sticky situations, and getting to know quite an interesting cast of characters. Sally Jay is a little naive, but her ignorance is almost touching, and her observations are hilarious and sharp.
Sadly, I read the book on my Kindle from the library, so I don’t have it in front of me to quote from, but trust me–it’s worth it.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
