I think ICB is my favorite scary book. It’s quite masterfully written and you forget sometimes that you’re not reading fiction. I was most taken by the in-depth stories of the murderers’ pasts. You find yourself empathizing with these people and then remember, oh my word, they are MURDERERS. A great tale!

I also remember finding the book “The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane” in my mom’s pile of books she bought used years ago from the library and that one was creepy too, because the protagonist is a teenage girl yet the things she does to survive are sort of blood-curdling. “The Collector” by John Fowles is also really creepy because it seems so real. I think I like creepy more than scary–I’m not much for gore, but sometimes it’s fun to creep yourself out!
