The Wedding: Getting Ready

2012 November 26

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday–mine was spent in Florida with Joe and his family, and we managed to pack a lot of shopping, sightseeing, drinking, eating, and catching up in four days. I’m not quite ready to accept that Christmas is around the corner, but we put up our tree tonight when we got back to Brooklyn and listened to holiday music while we hung the ornaments. How are you getting in the holiday spirit?

One of the things I was most thankful for this year was getting married to my best friend and having the most beautiful wedding I could ever hope for. As promised, I want to share some of the professional photos we had taken that day here on the blog. I plan on splitting them up and presenting them once a week for the next few weeks, each week focusing on a different aspect of the wedding.

This week, I’m going to share a few photos from getting ready. I got dressed in my room at the inn on the property of the farm where we were married (Mt. Hope Farm in Bristol, RI).

My dress, which I purchased as a sample from the White Gown in DUMBO, Brooklyn

My J. Crew wedding shoes….which I subsequently left in a hotel room in Sacramento just a few weeks later :(

My sister and maid of honor zips me in

Tiffany pearl bracelet (birthday gift from my family), my engagement ring, and my great aunt’s 50th wedding anniversary ring, a gift my great uncle gave me for the wedding

One of my favorite things about this dress was the yellow beading details on the bodice

My other favorite thing was the back

Fixing my hair

And of course, my most essential accessory–a dashing husband. He’s wearing a custom-made suit, Thomas Pink shirt and tie, and Hugo Boss shoes.

Stay tuned for more wedding photos over the next few weeks!

So lovely! The light that day was something else and it is awesome to see it captured in the photos. You both look fantastic. My word, is there anything more dashing on a man than a bespoke suit? :)

I am sad about your shoes. But happy about your lovely photos! That dress! That beading! So glad I got to share your marvelous day with you and looking forward to more photo loveliness.

Congratulations, your dress is beautiful and it looks like you had such great weather. Your husband looks quite happy and dapper in that pic. Can’t wait to see more!
