Things I Love This Week–2/13/13

2013 February 13

I try to stick to style and literature here on the blog, but like any well-rounded individual, I have a lot more interests. Sometimes, these interests don’t really fit into any neat category or theme. So I decided, just for fun, I’ll post a list of things I’m loving that aren’t necessarily related to clothing or books (though sometimes they will be, since I do still love both those things immensely).

Why today? Because it’s mid-February, arguably one of the worst times of the year for those of us stuck in the winter doldrums, and I think I’m getting sick, and I’ve felt nothing but exhausted for the last two days. So why not talk about the things that I love?

1. New Girl

Joe was away this past weekend, and there was a blizzard, which meant I spent a lot of time in my apartment. So what did I do? I discovered New Girl on Hulu Plus. And I watched the entire second season (well, up to the most recent episode) in 3 days. I’m not sure how I’ve been missing out on this, but you’re all in trouble for not telling me how awesome it is. It’s the most I’ve laughed out loud at a tv show in a long time. If you haven’t been watching, I highly recommend you change that and go watch!

2. The Westminster Dog Show

Look, it’s no secret that I love dogs. So obviously, the Westminster Dog Show is pretty great. The winning dog’s name is BANANA JOE. How amazing is that? If you didn’t see it, you can check out all the best in breeds (like Vinny the Burmese Mountain Dog up there) in this New York Times Gallery.

3. Revlon Lip Butter

I don’t know about you, but I personally find lipstick too dry and cakey, and lip gloss too sticky. I’m like Goldilocks. Enter Revlon’s Colorburst Lip Butters. They are amazing. Not only are they as moisturizing as lip balm, they are also as pigmented as lipstick and leave just a touch of shimmer. They also smell yummy. I want one in every shade.

4. Brown Butter & Sea Salt Chocolate Chunk Cookies

I made these bad boys a couple of weeks ago, and they’re hands down the best thing I’ve ever baked. Seriously. The recipe is really simple and they are delicious. Go make them! But be prepared to eat the whole pan.
